By Jesus' Stripes, we are Healed

Both Isaiah 53:5 and I Peter 2:24 tell us that we are healed by Jesus' stripes. Is that spiritual healing or physical healing? We had that discussion with some folks a few days ago. I'm not sure what it would mean to be healed spiritually unless it just means to be saved. But, our spirit doesn't need to be healed. God doesn't heal our spirit when we get born again, He gives us a new one. Look at Ezekiel 11:19 and  36:26. He says that He will put a new spirit within us. See John 3:3 and 6. We must be born again and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. When we are born again, we receive a new spirit, not a healed spirit. Psalm 103:3 explains it more fully: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases;.... He forgives our iniquities and heals our diseases. But, it's not automatic. We have to exercise our faith and receive it. We all know people who have died while appearing to believe God for healing. This does not change the word of God. We cannot know their hearts. God is the only one who can truly know a person's heart. And either way, those people received a victory because now they are in the presence of their Savior.

There are multiple places in the gospels where Jesus healed people. Just do a search on the word healed, etc. There is never a case where Jesus said to someone that He could not heal them because it was the Father's will for them to be sick. Matthew 15:26 and Mark 7:27 tell us that healing is the children's bread. The devil brings sickness and disease with him. Matthew says that the girl was made whole. This is the children's bread: to be made whole. If you are born again, you are a child of God.

Jesus purchased healing for our bodies on the cross. All we have to do is receive it just like we received salvation. It takes a stand of faith. It sometimes takes time, but it is for us. It is not the will of God for His children to be a slave to drugs of any kind. By Jesus stripes we are healed. This is our body, not our spirit.

Grace and peace,
Renee'
